The Indie Recoil Rig

The Indie Recoil rig is universal for all cameras including mirrorless and DSLRs. It includes our Halfcage Rail and Recoil Handle for a sturdy top and side grip. This rig is perfect for those who already own the Zacuto EVF.

This is a Next Generation Recoil rig designed for optimal balance and comfort when shoulder mounted or on a tripod. With lenses and cameras being similar weights, the balance point is where the lens meets the camera body. In a Recoil rig, the balance point needs to be directly over your shoulder which puts the camera behind you. This requires focus, monitoring and camera controls to be relocated forward, creating a lighter and shorter rig.

Includes:

• VCT Pro – this baseplate has a sliding top plate for quickly removing the camera from the rig or fast len changes, a built-in, curved shoulder pad, a v-wedge tripod connector (with ¼” 20 and 3/8" 16 screw option). It has removable and extendable 6.5” iris rods and rows of ¼” 20 screw holes along the sides for accessories. It has quick release 15mm rod parts in the rear. The recessed rod mount offers maximum accessory capable space under your camera lens.
• QR Riser – raises your camera to a height compatible with matteboxes. Also provides a quick-release for your camera. Includes Gorilla Plate V2 and Gorilla Tripod Dock.
• Zgrip Zwivel – fully articulating handgrip with rod cap. Attaches to a single 15mm rod with a Zwivel mount that can be set at multiple different angles for comfort and ease of use.
• Halfcage Rail – solid, adjustable, universal cage structure for the side and top of your camera rig. Comes with 3” Z-rail made for the VCT Pro. The Halfcage Rail expands to fit over your camera and accessories and includes Z-Rail, 1/4" 20 screw, and 15mm rod accessory attachment ports.
• Recoil Handle – this solid top grip attaches to the Halfcage Rail with a quick release, ratcheting lever. The Recoil Handle can accept two coldshoe accessories and has a quick release 15mm rod port for an Axis Mini or articulating arm.

The Gratical Eye

The Gratical Eye SDI electronic viewfinder is the smallest and lightest of Zacuto's Micro OLED EVFs. It fits in the palm of your hand and weighs only 14oz. This is an ideal SDI EVF solution for filmmakers using professional cameras and external batteries. The Gratical Eye has a 2 pin Lemo power jack and a single SDI input. A 75Wh battery can power the Gratical Eye for 14 hours! Mount the Gratical Eye to your Next Generation Recoil via the 1/4 20 rosette on the side with an Axis Mini. You can also mount the Gratical Eye with the ¼ 20 screw hole in the bottom.

The Gratical Eye Micro OLED electronic viewfinder uses an extremely powerful FPGA dual core processor and the latest Micro-OLED displays to provide a hugely expanded contrast range. Zacuto's Micro-OLED display supports high pixel density with unparalleled resolution, true blacks, gamma and contrast range. The Gratical Eye has 5.4 million pixels on a 0.61” diagonal screen no bigger than the size of your thumbnail.

You’ll be amazed with how sharp the image is. The internal field of view is just the right size so that the image is large, but not so that your eye has to roam to see the entire image at once. It features a built in -1 to +4 diopter range and Zacuto’s patented essential anti-fog coating formula. It never fogs in humidity or freezing temperatures. An auto-closing eyecup door prevents sunburn display automatically without any action by the operator.

Along with the full suite of Zacuto EVF firmware (full scopes, LUTs, multi level peaking, and more), the Gratical Eye has two unique features - an external tally light and a proximity screen saver. After 1 hour of being idle, the Eye will go into auto shutoff mode, saving you power and time.
