  • Introducing a one of its kind collaboration: the Hydra x Dan Ming Speed Pan System

The Speed Pan System allows users to capture high speed pans through the precise control of a wireless follow focus motor.

The foundation of this system is a rotatable base with geared teeth for a focus motor to rotate. Cameras with a small form factor like action cameras or DSLRs can then be mounted via a quick release plate. This base also features an adjustable tilt axis which helps with framing and creating unique angles.

At the bottom of this base you’ll find three NATO rails which can be used to attach articulating arms and suction cups as well as other custom support systems. The Pro Kit includes three heavy duty articulating arms as well as three electronic suction cups. This provides a secure and flexible mounting option for aligning the system in a variety of angles on a vehicle. This system is designed to help capture the high speed action typically found with car to car filming, but can be used in other creative shooting scenarios via the multiple mounting points on the unit itself such as NATO and ¼”-20 threads.

Dan Ming served as both 1st AC and Systems Engineer on F1: The Movie. He played a key role in developing Sony’s compact “Sensor on a Stick” prototype system and co-engineered the Pana-Pan with Panavision. His experience spans numerous Hollywood productions, where he has become known for integrating innovative technology into complex shooting scenarios.

NOTE: Wireless Follow Focus Motor is not included
