Combining RED’s color science with Nikon’s engineering, the Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera is a groundbreaking tool designed to deliver stunning cinematic imagery in a compact body. Its Z-mount design supports a wide range of lenses, while internal stabilization ensures smooth, steady shots with over 15 stops of dynamic range. Key features include 32-bit float audio, advanced autofocus, dual-base ISO, and up to 6K60 video capture in REDCODE, N-RAW, or ProRes RAW.

Note: The ZR uses a “free-floating” IBIS sensor, which may produce a slight rattle when the camera is powered off. This is normal — the sensor locks in place when the camera is turned on and stabilization is active.

Nikon + RED Color Science

The Nikon and RED partnership ensures seamless compatibility with professional workflows. The ZR supports REDCODE RAW (R3D NE), Nikon’s N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ/422 HQ, and high-quality compressed codecs like H.264 and H.265. REDCODE RAW unlocks REDWideGamutRGB color space and Log3G10 curve for superior color grading. Capture resolutions up to 6K60, 4K120, and 1080p240 for high-frame-rate slow-motion shots.

Lenses and Image Stabilization

The Z mount supports all NIKKOR Z lenses and numerous third-party options. Integrated stabilization delivers up to 7.5 stops of shake reduction for smooth, cinematic shots.

Dual-Base ISO and Shutter Angle

Dual-base ISO (800/6400) ensures optimal performance for Log3G10 and N-Log profiles. Adjustable shutter angles from 5.6° to 360° provide creative control over exposure and motion blur.

Filmmaker-Friendly Interface

Quickly switch between stills and video with an intuitive interface featuring customizable Fn buttons and shortcut menus for essential tools like grids, zebra, waveform, touch AF, and focus peaking.

Custom LUTs

Load up to 10 LUTs for real-time preview on the camera’s display, streamlining your color workflow on set.

Large, Bright Display

The 4-inch variable-angle touchscreen offers DCI-P3 color gamut, 1000 cd/m² brightness, and 3.07 million-dot resolution for clear viewing. It automatically flips for horizontal or vertical shooting.

Audio Capture

Enjoy pristine audio with dynamic 32-bit float and 24-bit recording, plus standard 48 kHz linear PCM for full video compatibility. Built-in configurable mics offer five directional patterns, and a line input allows external mic use. The digital accessory shoe supports options like the ME-D10 shotgun mic, while a headphone jack enables real-time monitoring.

Recording and Output

The ZR records to a CFexpress Type B card via a compact battery-door slot, with an additional microSD slot for proxy recording. A micro-HDMI output provides connectivity to external displays or recorders.

Advanced Autofocus

Nikon’s deep-learning-powered autofocus delivers up to nine subject detection modes, automatically tracking people, animals, and vehicles with precision.

Nikon Z Mount and Accessories

The Z mount’s wide, shallow design supports a vast range of NIKKOR and third-party lenses. Expand your setup with accessories like cages, rigs, and microphones from Nikon and trusted brands such as SmallRig.

Power Options

Power the ZR with an EN-EL15c battery or via USB-C using an external power source such as a power bank or optional adapter.

Ultracompact Design

Despite its cinema-grade capabilities, the ZR is as small as a mirrorless camera. Perfect for fieldwork, vehicle mounts, gimbals, drones, POV shots, and more — its lightweight design adapts to any creative scenario.

Big Ideas, Big Performance

Big ideas deserve exceptional performance and unmatched flexibility. Meet the Nikon ZR — the ultimate collaboration between Nikon and RED. Capture breathtaking 6K resolution, harness RED’s advanced color science, and shoot with extraordinary dynamic range. The Nikon ZR empowers you to bring your cinematic vision to life. This isn’t just an upgrade in gear — it’s an upgrade in your creative game.
