The SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports combines high-speed AF, high image quality, high-performance optical stabilizer (OS) functionality, and an inner zoom that is robust without changing barrel length, all of which provide high reliability for professionals in all fields, including sports photography.

Key Features

  • High-speed AF and optical stabilizer function
  • Lightweight design
  • Internal zoom function
  • Dust & splash resistant
  • Aperture ring with click-free function
  • Made in Japan

Lightweight design

Compared to the SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports for DSLR cameras, the SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | is significantly lighter. The burden on the photographer is greatly reduced, giving them more room to carry another lens.

Full range of features

It is the first DN zoom lens to be equipped with an aperture ring. A new, more compact type of tripod socket has also been developed. Like other lenses in Sports line, various functions continue to be incorporated, providing a full range of functions and high operability.

Dual HLA-driven Floating Focus for high-speed AF

The focus lens is driven at high speed by using a high-thrust HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) as the focus actuator, and a floating focus is used to achieve high speed AF drive.

The floating configuration of this lens, in which the two focus groups are driven in opposite directions, reduces the amount of movement of each focus group to about half that of a single group focus system, achieving extremely fast AF that is highly responsive to capture photo opportunities.

Inner Zoom Robust without changing barrel length

Inner zoom enables the lens to have excellent dust and splash resistance since there is no change in barrel length when zooming. The minimal change in center of gravity enables stable shooting in all situations, including hand-held, on a tripod, and with a gimbal.

During zooming, five groups are moved to suppress aberration fluctuation, achieving high optical performance throughout the entire zoom range.

Lightweight design

Streamlined optical design and a multi-material structure that optimally arranges magnesium, CFRP*, and TSC have resulted in a lightweight lens body with a weight of 1,345g for L-Mount, while ensuring rigidity.

*Featured for the lens hood only.

Compared to 1,805g for the conventional SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports for SIGMA SA mount, the new lens is 460g lighter, equivalent to almost one SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary lens.

Full range of features

The lens is the first DN zoom lens to be equipped with an aperture ring.

In consideration of video recording, the aperture ring can be made click-free with the aperture ring click switch. The aperture ring lock switch is also provided to prevent accidental changes to the aperture setting.

The TS-151 Tripod Socket (Removable Lens Foot Type)* is developed to be smaller and lighter than conventional tripod sockets to match the lightweight body. It also continues to feature a 90-degree click mechanism on the ring section, same as the previous model SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports.

The lens also incorporates the following features of the Sports line.

Hardware Features

  • Three AFL buttons
  • Focus Limiter switch
  • OS switch (Mode 1 / 2)
  • Custom Mode switch
  • Dust and Splash Resistant Structure
  • Water and Oil Repellent Coating

* The lens foot is not compatible with conventional tripod sockets.
