After extensive development, Schneider crafted a method to sandwich vintage-style hosiery—produced on original 1950s knitting machines—between their signature crystal-clear, water-white optical glass. Like all Schneider professional cine filters, each piece is laminated and sealed with their exclusive Edge Seal to prevent chipping, reduce edge reflection, and minimise flare.
The True-Net series offers seven filters: True-Net Black in three densities (subtle to heavy) evokes a lush, romantic old-Hollywood look; True-Net Beige in two densities delivers a warm, dreamy 1960s–70s aesthetic; and True-Net Gray, available in two versions, softens the image while preserving natural contrast.
Cinematographer George Mooradian, ASC, praised the effect after testing: “Ahhhhhhhh, I held up the first net to my eye and it evoked so much beauty and romance, I felt I was in a European film. It’s a beautiful, vintage feel that wipes out the pristine, clean, sterile look of the modern digital cameras and lenses.”
