GFM PRODUCTS VIDEO (19.5 Mb) - QT 7 for Mac or PC Required

The GF-8 Crane replaces the GF-6, adding new dimensions to the concept of lightweight, rideable and remote crane systems.
With it's extra reach and increased payload capacities, the GF-8 offers even more options to meet the needs and requirements of modern film and video production. Numerous production companies, grips, camera operators, remote head operators and indeed rental companies can already testify to the versatility, stability and durability of the GF-8 Crane System.

Combined with a modern lightweight design and the high grade pan & tilt bearing systems, the GF-8 allows for unmatched ease of movement and remains steady at all times. With the GF-8, all respective rigging and parallelogram rods are identical, further improving and providing a logical and easy to understand assembly procedure.

As confirmation of GFM's high safety standards, the German TÜV have safety type tested and approved the GF-8 Crane System according to European guidelines for the scope of application under EC directives.

All GF-8 components are designed to allow a very comfortable carry and practical transportation. The complete arm fits neatly and safely on a dedicated trolley. Custom designed trolleys and carriers are also available for the counterweights.

The GF-8 Base Dolly is fitted with 4 rubber wheels and operates with 2 wheel steering. Customised versions with double-ended steering are available upon request. The correct selection of materials and the it's solid design eliminate the possibility of the base dolly flexing under extreme crane movements.

Push down wheel brakes help to stop the dolly rolling or moving. The corrected steering geometry allows a minimum circular movement of 258cm / 9' 4" inside diameter.

The onboard track wheels make it possible to instantly transfer from floor to track. Track wheels are available in hard plastic which are ideal for fast tracking shots with remote heads or a special Vulkulan mix which offers an ideal compromise for man riding and remote use. The mounted track wheels don't restrict the wheels when steering. If the ground surface demands it, the track wheels can be removed within seconds.

Sturdy, hand cranked levelling legs can be attached to the base allowing for fast adjustments on uneven surfaces. The position of the levelling jacks increases the footprint of the base and doesn't conflict with the track wheel connection making it possible to lay track underneath the dolly when the jacks are mounted. The base is equipped with fittings for a push bar at either end of the dolly. The push bar is especially useful for fast tracking shots allowing 2 operators comfortable positioning on either side of the base.

The GF-8 Crane System consists of 5 standard, man-riding versions plus 3 standard remote versions. By adding the mounting column extension, the amount of configurations can be doubled.

Version 1 consists of 1 x 150cm (5') extension arm to the front and a 127cm (4' 2") arm to the bucket end. Other versions are set-up by simply extending the front of the crane by adding on the required extensions.

The GF- 8's angle adjusters mean that there are no dedicated front sections required. Unlike other cranes, the GF- 8 has no set nose piece or bucket end.

The extension arms must not follow a strict numerical set-up procedure. Version 8, for example, consists of 4 x 150cm (5') and 1 x 100cm (3' 3") extension arms. The 4 long arms are identical to each other. Naturally the parallelogramm rods follow the same principal.

Shorter crane versions can be assembled with either a 40cm (1' 6"), 75cm (2' 6") or 100cm (3' 3") as the bucket end and the front of the arm can be assembled with the remaining sections. The angle adjusters are then mounted to either of the ends.

It goes without saying that this ultra modular crane system provides an endless amount of camera support possibilities.
