SONY HDR-HC1 CMOS HDV/DV Camcorder
The HC1 is available to rent from Lemac. It features a single 3-megapixel CMOS sensor instead of the usual CCD sensor technology that has the advantage of virtually no vertical "smearing" artifacts like IT CCDs do. While it can capture natural rich tones and a wide dynamic exposure range, it is not quite as sensitive as the CCD technology. The camera runs on 7.2v batteries and has very low power consumption.
The HDR-HC1 can record and playback HDV and DV content, with the ability to down-convert footage into standard definition. It uses Mini DV tapes and either the PANASONIC DV Master tape or SONY's highest quality 6mm DigitalMaster videotape is recommended.
