The Aaton 35-III, with its absolute image stability and hair-free gate, insures perfectly clean archivable images that will remain with us for generations. All Aaton 35-III cameras record Aatoncode (see note below) on the side of each and every image; eliminating the need of slates for Audio sync, AatonCode increases the crew's mobility while saving time and budget. The Aaton 35-III is the only camera offering Instant Magazines. They bring the filmmaker maximum flexibility and speed by eliminating camera threading during mag changes. The 400' displacement magazine is the key to the camera's extreme comfort and handholdability. Giving access to settings such as Aatonite (illuminated frame for low light filming), 5-digit speed control, phasing to video screens, etc., the 35-III's LCD display and its Mini Jog remain the most intuitive control interface around. The Aaton VideoSync Assists, either PAL or NTSC, flicker-free at all camera speeds, offer unsurpassed image resolution and color rendition for direct digital recording for non-linear editing systems. The output of the VideoSyncAssist offers frame line generation and timecode, footage and camera run data in programmable burn-in windows. Because this information is also encoded in VITC, field audio can be automatically synced to the video-assist image via "InDaw". AatonCode records real time and date in the form of dot matrixes on the edge of the film. These matrixes, compatible with Keycode markings, open up a wide array of post-production and automated audio syncing options. On-the-fly audio sync can automatically be performed during 'one lite' transfers on Aaton Keylink equipped telecines.
