CASA Regulations for Battery Transport
CASA has just updated the rules for transporting Lithium-ion (Li-on) batteries on Australian planes. The new rules came into effect on 1 January 2009:
- Max Li-equivalent: 160Wh (13g Li-on content)
- Spare batteries: Carry on baggage only
- In equipment: Recommended in carry on baggage only but can be in checked baggage
- Number limit: 2 spares plus any in equipment
- Airline operator approval required: Yes
