The Black arm is a 3-axis dampening system with a additional vibration mount for stabilizing roll and tilt errors as well as vertical motion and vibrations. The Black arm is a hardmount system made for gimbals that you want to mount on vehicles such as cars, ATVs, boats, snowmobiles etc.

Flexible Adjustments

There are two versions of Flowcine's Black Arm. The Black arm 'Standard' is designed to work for gimbals and cameras with a weight range between 5-13kg. The Black arm 'Complete' is for designed for much higher loads and has a weight range between 5-32kg. It is possible to upgrade from the Standard version to the Complete at any time. The damping action of all axis, vertical, Tilt, and roll are made with specially made actuator hydraulic dampers. There are 22 different damping forces wich are fully adjustable with just the turn of a knob. This means that no matter what load you apply to the Black arm, or what kind of action is required, the system is fully adjustable for the best possible damping and lifting capacity.

Mounting Options

The Black arm can also be configured with a hard front nose system for applications that do not need the tilt and roll damping, like motorbike hard mounting etc, and can be configured with our unique anti vibration cable mount for a wider range of damping different frequencies. Mounting the Black arm is as simple as clamping it on to a standard 48-52mm diameter tube. Some extra off the shelf components can be mixed to provide different types of vehicle configurations. Unique design allow mounting of batteries, Kenyon gyros etc providing a versatile tool handling every obstacle.

Test Footage

Below is some test footage shot using Flowcine's prototype Black Arm. The movie was shot using four different mounting points, back and front on a regular car with roof rack and tow bar. We've used DJI Ronin with the RC joystick and a Red Epic and PL zoom lens. The shots are with various focal length between 18mm for lower close to ground shots to 45-50mm for the closeups on the driver. Most other shots are 25-35mm focal length. There are two versions, one with just the demo footage and one with the second camera included to see the arm in action.
